Hi, my name is Brendan. I’m a millennial father-of-two from the Philly suburbs working in the financial services industry. This site is a collection of the best pieces of inspiring wisdom I’ve discovered in my travels through life.

Why Improving Lots? The inspiration for the name comes from an excellent short essay by John Salvatier titled Reality has a surprising amount of detail. John starts the essay by explaining his immigrant father’s “preferred method of improving his lot was improving lots,” referring to work on buildings he owned. Clever wordplay aside, the essay highlights the beautiful and surprising nuance in everyday things. I love the message and plan to use this site as a platform to reflect on the subtleties of my areas of interest. My aim is to come away with a deeper understanding and hopefully help readers to do the same!
